Home Loans while Overseas

Notary Public Services
A Notary Public is a state official authorized to witness the signing of important documents such as acknowledgements and jurats, administer oaths and affirmations, certify affidavits or depositions, and certain other powers as provided for by law.

State Department Federal Credit Union has Notaries at all five of our branches. Members must call ahead to verify that the Notary Public is available on the day you would like to visit.

Notify Us of Your Scheduled Travel

For your protection, accounts are monitored 24 hours a day. When you travel outside the United States there could be restrictions when using your VISA Check or Credit Card. Restrictions vary based on transactions outside your normal purchasing pattern.

4 Ways  To Alleviate Card Restrictions When Traveling Abroad:

  1. Call 800-296-8882 or 703-706-5000 to speak to a Credit Union Representative.
  2. Send an email through SDFCU's secure email system. Please include card numbers, name on card, destination and timeframe of your travels.
  3. Send a faxed request to SDFCU including your destination, time frames, along with your signature. Faxed requests should be sent at least 24 hours before your departure to SDFCU Card Services at 703-706-5117.
  4. Send a written request to SDFCU including your destination, time frames, along with your signature. Written requests need to be received by SDFCU at least 24 hours before your departure date at the following address:

Safe Deposit Boxes

Keep your valuables and important documents protected in a secured vault. Safe Deposit boxes are available at our State Department and Alexandria Branches.
Boxes are available in these sizes:

  • 3x5 ($27)
  • 5x5 ($37)
  • 10x5 ($65)

We offer a convenient automatic payment deduction out of your Savings Account.
